Elmira and I are sitting around the fire at the Halloween rally enjoying a few beverages. We have an idea and might not remember this idea in the morning. Sign contest. Why I like camping and incorporate canvas ampers in it. Not to exceed 5x5. More details to come when we are sober.

It is Monday and I am now sober and am starting to piece together Saturday night. I have had flashes of a Candy Corn race, pampers, and spoons......Oh, and a sign contest.
So here is the idea to the best of my recollection. A sign contest. Make a sign at home or at camp that has to do with camping and somehow has Canvas Campers involved in it somehow. You can use whatever materials you want. We will somehow have a group vote, either one vote per site or per adult or we'll work out the details for that later. The winner will win something good. We haven't figured that part out yet either, but trust us. The prize will be worthy of all the good creativity I know we have in the group.

Ladyhawke.....glad you and Pat will be joining us again. I can't wait to edit the geocaching video from the Thanksgiving Rally, that was fun. I already went to the website and was checking it out.

This should be interesting because I think we're bringing EVERYONE. By March, the kids' schedule will be empty enough that all 3 should be coming along, and Eilean's mother loved the Season Closer, so she wants to come too. So that's 3 adults, 3 kids and 1 1/2 dogs (Skipper doesn't really count as a whole dog.) I think we may have to tie my MIL to the roof like Aunt Edna in Vacation. She can't weigh more than 90 pounds.
For us, this could be our first spring opener as a couple only. DS2 will be in college & DS1 might very well be working or out doing his own thing this wknd. We will, however, be bringing our newest family member, Floyd. He's a Great Pyrenese puppy. At 6 months, he's approx. 60 lbs, so by March when he's 11 months, I'm not sure how big he'll be! If you see a big white furry dog in the loop, that's our pup!
FLOYD!!!! I love that name. I wanted to name my son Floyd. And if we had twins I wanted to name them Floyd and Lloyd. DW filled out the birth certificate and as a result I have a wonderful son named Nathan. I tried for a middle initial of F but I got vetoed on that as well.

I found a recipe for Crock Pot Buffalo Chicken Pasta and I tried it this weekend. It called for Blue Cheese Crumbles which are super expensive, so I used some Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing and it tasted yummy to me......I think I have what I'm bringing to the pot luck on Saturday

There has been an update with this group rally and I wanted to let everyone know what's happening. This isn't a bad thing, just a little different from our prior 6 year springs we were here.
DCNR has budgeted in 2014 for new construction on the loop C campground at French Creek State Park. They will be adding water and sewer to a number of the existing electric sites. For this reason, new reservations can no longer be booked in advance and they are first come, first serve for a few months. Existing reservations are fine!
They are only planning to work on 3-4 sites at a time during the week so the campground will still be open. I expect little - no effect on our group. Depending on their schedule, we might have to move 3 sites but they will remain in the same loop, with the same amenities. (pet/electric)
If someone is interested in joining this group and hasn't booked, please send me a PM and I can work with the rangers station for available sites.
A small group of us are heading up to French Creek this weekend for a mini winter rally if you want to get a camping fix. We'll have a nice campfire going Sat afternoon if you just want to stop by and sit around a fire :camperkid:

If you have any friends or family who have heard about how great this trip is but they aren't "campers" and don't have equipment......there are 4 of the Modern Cabins open for $109 per night. These are not the camping cottages that are at the end of the camping loops (those are all booked....Rusty has cottage #2), these are a drive away, but still in the area with electric heat, bathroom, full kitchen, beds, bunk beds, couch, etc. I'm going to see if my sister wants to camp there.
