Niagara Falls State Park is a wonderful place to visit all year long! The park offers some of the most stunning views of the falls and rapids leading up to the waterfalls. There are three waterfalls located within the park; American, Horseshoe, and the little Bridal Veil Falls. Approximately 6 million cubic feet/minute flow over all three waterfalls during daytime hours in our peak tourist season! That's approximately 750,000 U.S. gallons per second! At night,  the amount is half that, most water being diverted for the production of hydroelectricity. A certain amount is actually diverted at all times for the production of electricity. Their sheer volume of water, its uses, and geography make Niagara Falls one of the most interesting and accessible waterfalls in the world!

At the state park here in Niagara Falls,  we have attractions that are fun for old and young alike! All ages are welcome! Some are open seasonally, but our main season runs from mid-May till the end of October. Check ahead of time to make sure the attractions you want will be open. We have the world famous Maid of the Mist boat ride (http://www.maidofthemist.com),  which is an amazing half hour boat trip into the Horseshoe mist,  where you get an up close and personal view of the Falls! It is suitable for all ages. We also offer another world famous attraction in the Cave of the Winds walkways (http://www.niagarafallsstatepark.com),  which is another exhilarating half hour trip where you walk through a series of walkways and decks below the Bridal Veil and American Falls to within 15 feet of the Falls! Along with the admission to the Cave of the Winds,  we've opened an exciting addition to the Cave of the Winds complex called the World Changed Here Pavilion. This building houses year-round displays and a short film teaching visitors how the falls was first used to harness AC current electricity.  It also houses displays on the history of the Falls. The Cave of the Winds complex is a timed ticketing attraction, and there are no advanced reservations. You must reserve a time at the State Park, in person,  from one of the cashiers at various locations inside the park. The easiest is to simply purchase them directly at the Cave of the Winds. If you start your day at the Visitor Center however,  they can also be purchased there, either inside or at kiosks in the front and back of the building. So plan to arrive early to reserve a time. All attractions open at 9:00AM during the summer season.   The Adventure Theatre (http://www.niagaramovie.com) is located inside our Visitor Center, running a wonderful 30 minute adventure movie recreating historical events in the area. The Aquarium of Niagara (http://www.aquariumofniagara.org) has an abundance of fresh water and salt water species. The Discovery Center (http://www.niagarafallsstatepark.com) is a geological museum,  which will teach you all about the geology and history of the region with interactive displays. The Scenic Trolley, which is a guided bus tour throughout the park, provides you with unlimited rides for one entire day! Save the walking! Separately trolley wristbands are $3.00/adult, $2.00 for children 6-12 years of age, and 5 years and under is free. You may get on and off any trolley, at any of eight stops, throughout the park, as many times in one day as you like. All these are included in our Discovery Pass, or you may pay for individual attractions at the location of that attraction. If you get hungry, there is a snack bar and grill inside our main Visitor Center; a snack bar at the Cave of the Winds complex, and the full service Top of the Falls Restaurant overlooking the Horseshoe Falls on Goat Island.  More information and pricing is available from the Niagara Falls State Park website at:http://www.niagarafallsstatepark.com.

We offer the Niagara USA Discovery Pass from sometime in May until the end of October (when all attractions are open). It's your opportunity to enjoy the most popular attractions in the park at a reduced price over the cost of paying for each attraction individually. The pass includes the Maid of the Mist boat ride, Cave of the Winds walkways, the Adventure Theater movie, the Aquarium of Niagara, the Discovery Center museum, and one day's unlimited use of the Scenic Trolley bus, which takes you to all these attractions and throughout the entire park. The passes can be purchased, in person, at the state park for $46.00/adults 13yrs + and $35.00/children 6yrs to 12yrs, 5 years and under is free. They can also be purchased online through our website (http://www.niagarafallsstatepark.com) for the same prices, plus a service charge per pass. For online purchases, you must present to the cashier at the state park either a printed copy of the voucher sent to your email, or the voucher loaded on your smart phone. The cashier will scan the voucher and exchange it for your passes. You do not need to print your voucher as long as it’s on your smartphone.  Allow one hour per attraction, and they don't have to be completed the same day. However the included trolley is unlimited rides for an entire day, whichever day you choose. The trolley does not have to be used the same day you purchase the Discovery Pass. Keep in mind, wait times during holidays, or near to holidays, may be very long. Therefore at those times you will not be able to complete all attractions on the same day.

There are three parking lots within the state park property. The Falls are only a couple minutes’ walk from each lot. Lot 1 is off Prospect Street, and is the closest to the American Falls at Prospect Point, the Visitor Center, the Adventure Theater, the Maid of the Mist, the Rainbow bridge to Canada, and Scenic Trolley stops. Lot 2 is located on Goat Island and is closest to the Cave of the Winds, Top of the Falls restaurant, and the closest views of the Horseshoe Falls at Terrapin Point. American and Bridal Veil falls can also be viewed from this island. Lot 3 is located on the opposite side of Goat Island and is closest to Three Sisters Islands and the Falls rapids. This area is also a wonderful spot for a picnic, with many benches and tables available and restrooms nearby. Lots 1 and 2 are $10.00/day (for cars only), and the receipt is good in any state park lot throughout the state (for instance, if you went to Fort Niagara it will be good for parking there). Lot 3 is $10.00, charged at the peak summer season and is also the lot for day parking of RVs and trailers. That receipt is also good at any state park parking lot for the day.

For nature lovers, I would recommend one of the many hiking trails north of the Falls along the scenic parkway overlooking the beautiful Niagara Gorge. Directly next to our Discovery Center is a trailhead building (open seasonally). They have staff that can help you with your plans to hike the gorge and can provide maps and information. There is an interesting trail just behind the trailhead building suitable for all ages.  You may also access trails at Whirlpool State Park and Devil’s Hole State Park, north on the Scenic Parkway North from the Falls. For those with their own bikes, there are a number of nice bike trails in the area. You can ride along the Niagara river south of the Falls for nice views of the river and the rapids, or you can ride along the gorge north of the Falls. Outside of the park there are a number of places of interest. These may include power plant tours, antique shopping and dining in quaint villages, first class shopping at area malls and shopping centers, winery tours, or perhaps a visit to one of the oldest forts in the Great Lakes region. If you travel north from Niagara Falls on the Scenic Parkway North,  you'll arrive at several interesting and fun destinations. Just a 10-minute drive is the Niagara Power Vista http://www.nypa.gov/communitie.....ower-vista.   This attraction offers free admission and parking and houses exhibits on the history and creation of hydropower in the Niagara region. You can even experience a virtual roller coaster ride through the power plant in a surround sound 4D theater! If you like hiking there are many opportunities to hike the gorge trails, either along the rim or descending into the gorge at Devil’s Hole State Park or Whirlpool State Park. Continuing north, on the Scenic Parkway North, you'll arrive at the historic town of Lewiston, New York. Lewiston is the quintessential small town with shops, antique stores, and first class restaurants. You may even dine overlooking the Niagara River at the location of the seasonal jet boat rides, whose boats offer heart- stopping rides through category 5 rapids in the Niagara Gorge! The final leg of the Scenic Parkway North takes you into the historic town of Youngstown, New York. Here you will find the world famous Old Fort Niagara, one of the oldest forts in the Great Lakes region! Construction was started in 1726 by the French with the "French Castle, " which still stands today! The fort has many interesting buildings and displays and is open year-round. Niagara Falls is illuminated every night of the year with amazing color. Usually the colors change every 15 minutes on all three waterfalls. During the summer there are beautiful fireworks over the Falls as well.
