We just booked Site 217
Last year, we saw deer, squirrel, turkey, fish and even a porcupine. We didn't see any bear but know there had been 3 bear issues in the last five years, all related to careless storage of food. I spoke to the ranger and was told we should be fine because the bear only come into the campground in the early season before the berries grow. After that, there is enough food for them in the wild. I thought about it and asked, "Well would that include April"... silence on the phone.
I did put Fritos in my buddies sleeping bag last year so the bear would come in his side of the camper knowing I just had to be able to out run him and not the bear. I know it's not a joke but it was funny. :lmao:

Here is the winter like conditions at Hickory Run last trout opener site 166:

It rained all Friday night creating a 2hr drenching setup, with temperatures hovering around 35. We ran out of propane by 1am Sunday and were packed up by 3am.
Not a fun first weekend out.
I'm revisiting a few of my reservations to make sure that the new HTT will still fit in the sites I've chosen.
Are the sites at Hickory Run deep enough that I won't need to worry?
In general, does anyone have a good sense of what the 20/30/40 foot trailer options mean on the reservation site? Our trailer is a 21ft, is 25ft tip to tip in drive mode, and 29 ft when the rear bunk is open. Would we choose a 20ft site since we don't exceed 30 feet or a 30ft site since we're closer to 30ft?
Thanks for any advice anyone has to offer.
Unfortunately we are still in winter condtions now into the 2nd week of spring in both Monroe and Carbon Counties. My pup still has 5"s of snow on it and I will not be able to de-winterize it/sanitize with daily temps 17f to 31f 😮
Odds are looking like we all are going to have to cancel if the weather doesn't rapidly change for the better by April 9th.
Another snow storm is set to hit the area Weds/Thurs this week.
