Is there a "best" hybrid on the market right now?  They have been out for about 10 years and several companies went under or stopped making them.  Is there a leader out there like Coleman was with the popup market?

mine ;D
Just kidding, many of us htt owners will say their own is the best.
Your question will lead to many interpretations.
We chose our Surveyor 234t based on the floor plan we wanted, the agreed upon price, the fit and finish, and the overall build comparison to other manufacturers. These were all selling points for us.
Ours has two exterior doors, which is a little unusual for a hybrid, one door leads directly into the bathroom which we liked for easy access to the bathroom without going through the entire camper for facilities. It has a slide out that contains the kitchen area and a jack knife sofa, allowing for a little more interior space when opened. We have a breakfast bar complete with 2 bar stools. It has two queen bed bunk ends which was what we wanted. Many models have three bunks, so it depends on what you're looking for.
With the the sofa bed and the dinnette bed and the extra space of the slide out we can turtle camp if needed.
We just got ours in January and have only had it out out for a few nights so far but we love it. We look forward to many more trips this year. It's been nice being able to access it without having to raise a roof and slide bunks out to get inside.
The down side is the decreased fuel mileage and a little anxiety pulling something so large down the road. Once at the campsite though, all is great.
Good luck choosing yours

Every manufacturer I've seen today has about the same average build quality.
Some are a bit better than others, some a bit worse.
The Forest River family of trailers seems to have a level of factory support behind them that the others seem to lack.
That being said, my two favorite companies are Keystone (Passport) and Jayco/Starcraft. I like the fit /finish a little better throughout.

Take a look at my topic on bunk ends.

Water penetration damage is a big deal on HTT's and I think that my favorites above have done a little better job at protecting your HTT,.
I particularly like the Bunk ends door latches at the bottom of the door rather than higher up. Easier for me makes the weekend go better.
I do miss the one piece type corian countertops that my fleetwood - coleman pup had. I could find no HTT with that and was told only the TT's at the mid level and above had that feature.
All of the appliances are basically the same between all of the HTT's.
So it comes down to a good deal and great dealer that has the floor plan you want.
Good luck.

back in '05-'06, when we were hybrid shopping, we felt there were 3 levels of build quality.
we looked at every brand of hybrid we could and put them into one of the 3 categories.
from what i've seen and read, recently, there's less difference in quality than there used to be.
but remember, perception of quality is very subjective and can vary between people. i couldn't believe that people thought a certain brand was great, when i thought it was the worst built quality of any hybrid i'd seen.

and different brands may have different features. some examples are Kodiak/Cub's Thermarest bunk ends(which lasted only a few model years and were dumped) and Keystone Passport's double compression latch system for the bunk doors.

there's never been a brand leader in hybrids.

find the floorplans you like and then look at each brand that has a similar floorplan. decide for yourself which one is the best quality and don't go by others' opinions. then look at things like length of warranty or customer support or price.

when we were shopping, there was no other floorplan like the 23SS. now, nearly every brand has a copy of that floorplan. luckily, Roo/Shamrock was one of 3 brands, in our top quality level category.
for us, the 23SS was the best floorplan, was near the top in quality, had a 2 year warranty, had decent customer support and offered some of the best prices out there.

There is 1 best HTT out there that comes to my mind.  The one you currently own or the one your going to buy.

I think it comes down to the floorplan.

Matt O 2006 Skyline Nomad 27' travel trailer.  Previously owned 1986 Coleman Columbia / 1992 Coleman Senecca / 1989 Born Free Class C RV.

having a slide out couch, or kitchenette is EVERYTHING when it comes to floor space.  makes a massive difference with inside maneuverability !

that being said, there are also some other ones I have never seen before until they showed up at a dealer.

campingworldofdothan, has a 2011 Sunset Creek, made by Crossroads, that looks sharp!  no slide out, but cute for just 2-4 people...12k

they also have a 2007?  roo 23ss for 12k, real clean, slide out, everything !

that sounds high for the 23SS. i paid $14,500 for my '07 23SS when it was new in 2006!
