I'm thinking of getting some pugs for our htt. Just curious as to what others do to install them on an htt.
I've read on other forums where they are a little difficult to put on ( mostly on pups ) which leads me to think it would be even more difficult on an htt since one can't raise the roof partially, install, and then finish raising the roof. I can really see the benefit of them for AC, heat, tree sap, etc. but want to be sure it's something that won't add too much set up time.
So, htt owners with pugs, are they worth the expense and do you use them regularly and have an easy method of installation?

thanks for any advice

I am planning on adding some PUGs too ( or similar) in the future.

I think because of the HEIGHT of the bunk tops, I am just going to have my wife help me.
I also think that the HIGH or TOP edge of the blanket I will add a piece of long rope, this way she and I can just WALK the covers back to the roof edge, then find a way to secure them.  might need to bring a 4 foot step ladder or 3 step folding stool though as well.

I used industrial strength velcro.  Put the pugs on once a year.  They fold up with the beds.  I did the same thing with my pop up.

When you order them, ask them to put velcro on the PUGs for you so you can velcro them to the trailer.

I ordered the velcro and they only sew the loop side of velcro you have to supply the other "stitch" side, so I have 2 7' loop sides left over....I got the industrial strenth at Walmart, they have black and white, Bob used black on my Pugs.

they are more important on a HTT, than a pup. this because the canvas ends on a HTT are more likely to have condensation than a pup, since pups breathe easier than the HTT.

IMHO, PUGs or solar blankets are a must for an HTT.

While I did have pugs on my previous two pups, I get absolutely no condensation on the tenting inside my HTT.
Maybe it's the Sunbrella used by Passport. It is never damp inside after three years of camping with it, over 140 days from March to November.
The only reason I'd get pugs for my HTT would be to keep the tree sap off the bunk ends.

Just ordered PUGs for the HTT. Been trying to make do with the king size ones from the Niagara but they are so big, its a fight.

I posted this a while back about how I attached them to our HTT (now sold), if it helps any.

I did order the PUGs with the velcro pre-attached.  They did seem to make a pretty big difference in heat retention, especially when combined with the Reflectix window inserts.

I just reread my post and thought I should add that in addition to the Sunbrella, I think the way Passport attaches the tenting to the bunk and and has the extra skirting around the bunk end keeps any air penetration out.The bunk ends are just a couple of degrees cooler than the trailer, but that's the way I like it.
And no drafts.
