We carried a microwave for a year and never used it.

We use a crock pot most every trip.

Upgraded the coffee pot from a 4 cup to a 40 cup since we usually end up with a lot of company for morning coffee.  🙂  We've had many mornings that when we wake up, several neighbors are sitting around our picnic table and the coffees already made.  (nice way to start the day)

I used to have an electric fondue pot that I'd take with me whenever I was on the road in flight status.  I could do a LOT of things in that little critter, including hamburgers.

hamburgers in an electric fondue pot? you are an amazing man! 🙂

Wanted to tell you guys I got a quesadilla maker today at Goodwill and loved how easy it made dinner tonight.....highly recommend them! Throw some rotisserie chix and shredded cheddar on a tortilla... heat for a few minutes and dinner is served....easiest dinner I have made in ages! Thanks for the tip WOP31!

I know what you mean JoeCamper, my husband gets up early for work and it totally throws me off if I don't wake up to the coffee already made( like when he has the day off).....40 people staring at me in jammies I could do without however 😉

GOOD cutlery. Not the Walmart type, but GOOD, brand-name cutlery. A chef's knife (7"), boning knife, utility knife, and paring knife, for starters. With high-end cutlery, the knives do the cutting and it's easier on the cook.

I swear by our crock pot! LOVE IT!!!! I plan a meal in the crock pot especially for days when we go out and about hiking or sight seeing so we don't have to "rush" back to make dinner. Also those days we are all usually a little tired so its great to come back to a yummy meal all prepared.

I know what you mean.....nothing worse than realizing that everybody is gonna look to you to cook something for dinner after a long day.....sigh.....I keep a few easy meals on hand for those kind of days ( but the crockpot solves that little problem doesn't it? ;))

My showtime rotisserie we are on our second one and cannot imagine life without it.  It does prime rib and chicken and pork tenderloin picture perfect and I Like to do small 13 lb turkeys in it.  I also love the shish kabobs made with it to.  Whenever we have company for dinner and I use it they always end up buying one to

At home:  My Chef's Choice manual knife sharpener (made in USA!  oops, maybe this doesn't qualify as an appliance since it's hand-powered)?

If it's electric-powered, I'd have to say the dishwasher.  I grew up in a house where there were between 5 and 7 people (at any given time) and no dishwasher; us girls took turns with dish duty.  I still feel pampered when I load up the dishwasher, put in detergent, and just WALK AWAY!  ;D

I never used this before this week but it has been in our kitchen for years.  DW used it and it air drying while I was chopping up onions.  It is a Slap Chop.  Boy did that thing save time and do a great job.  I have used it a few more times all ready.  It is a must have in the kitchen.
