For those of you who enjoy (or are addicted to) coffee - what brands do you prefer?  Please include your take-out, camper-prepared, and stationary home preferences.

For everyday home use, we grind 8 O'Clock Original Medium Roast and love it.  For special occasions (holidays, birthdays, anniversaries) we like the pre-ground Ireland Atlantic City Blend (a splurge because its truly superior flavor is only apparent if you use twice as much grounds as recommended).

I use a coffee press in the PUP and would like to take the coffee ground at home, but have forgotten it too many times to make this feasible (why, I don't know).  I now keep a can of Chock Full O'Nuts New York Blend (ground) in the PUP; I prepare it with a press (and have a small jar of White Rose instant at the ready in case that fails).  I initially bought the Chock Full O'Nuts because the price was right; I do add extra to the press, but overall it's been good-tasting and economical.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFEE

At home I use mostly Maxwell House ...  but if another brand like Vanhouton is on sale I'll grab that...

For take out... there is one one ... it's gotta be THD ...

For those folks who are not aware of THD .. that is Tim Horton's Donuts  (a.k.a. Timmy's)  ..  It is a Canadian Iconic institution ..  (Tim Horton was also a great hockey player in his day...)          Slowly THD is opening up shops in the States, mostly in the border towns and cities.  Slowly  this invasion will take hold and soon every American will be subdued but the taste of a Tim's coffee..  Then over conquest and take over will be complete ....    MMWWWAAAAHAHAHAHAHA

:jig:

Tim Hortons had been aligned with Wendy's in the US.  Not sure if they still are.  They had made fair inroads down to KY, as I recall.

I'll have to admit, I did become a lover of Tim's when I lived in Ontario.

For some reason that i can't explain, whenever i grab a Tim's i get a large double double.  Any other time i hate sugar in my coffee.  I'll buy whatever's on sale in the grocery store, but Tim's...mmmm, it's like having drinkable desert.

We have two electric machines and a French press.

At home we mostly drink "Kroger Brand" because we get coupons for free cans as rewards.

DW likes Jamaican Blue Mountain & Illiy. I like Kona and Starbucks but will drink almost anything but Mc'D's. DW like Skim and I like Half & Half, both use Splenda.

I have only seen Tim's on television as "The Dunkin' Donut's of Canada" but a lot better. I heard they were coming south to the U.S. I would like to try it.

As far as camping, we have used all three of our coffee makers and have also gone out for breakfast.  We keep a jar of Folger's instant just in case.

Oooh, Illy!  I forgot to mention that we have a espresso machine (that we don't use as nearly often as we should, maybe because in the mornings we can't operate it till we have a bit of coffee and at night we want to be able to sleep?) and love the Illy red label (nice cans to re-use, too, with that plastic gasket inside!).

I too am curious to try Tim Horton's; my youngest DS is a big ice hockey fan and most arenas have at least one Tim's ad on the boards (unfortunately our hometown isn't one of them)!

Steve A. mentioned Bustelo - I've never tried it (but the retro can design has certainly caught my eye) but am curious to learn more about cafe cubano and Turkish style coffee (and if they can be prepared at home and/or in the camper)!

Bustelo is an extremely fine grind.  So unless you're using a paper filter or espresso basket (and maybe French press), it'll clog up a lot of machines.  I even cut it by 1/3rd with a regular grind coffee to allow water to come through.

As far as I know.. Tims and Wendy's split a couple years ago...

Thanks, Craig.  I thought I had heard of the break but didn't remember for certain.

I don't drink coffee myself, but when I cater, I use Folgers. Everyone loves it.

I personally drink Seattle's Best Hazelnut, but if my 'regular' coffee drinkers want coffee, I serve Dunken Donuts original roast - which is a medium roast, not a gut burner.

I like most brands in the "French Roast" category.....has a smoky flavor to it.....I actually like the Harris Teeter generic brand best but BiLo Southern Home "French Roast" is a close second.....can't stand weak coffee!

We used to keep Folgers in the house, and the pup.  But I constantly had heartburn/indigestion.  Wife "switched" me to Maxwell House, and it quit.  (she actually bought bags and put it in the Folgers tub.)  When I found a bag, she asked how the heartburn was.  Had noticed the hb for several weeks.  Go figure.

That reminded me of a friend of mine who was broke but who had a rotten husband
( he was just rotten... not b/c of this 🙂 ) and he was very picky and would only eat the most expensive mayo yet the budget didn't allow for said mayo most weeks.....so she would buy the cheap mayo and put it in the expensive mayo jar and he would smile and say " see, you really can taste the difference X brand makes in a sandwich"......and she would say " yes baby, you are SO right" and smile to herself

( kind of makes you think about the scene in Pat Conroy's book where she feeds him dog food doesn't it?)
