Thinking abour trying frozen "TV" dinners on our next trip for some meals..The problem is we do not have a freezer in the camper.  Would these be ok in the ice chest where they would be cool, but no longer in the frozen state ??  ..Will the food still be safe??
Has anyone done this..??  thnks for your input, vern

You should be okay, Vern.  Put sealed bottles of frozen water on top.  Remember, heat rises, cold falls.
If they should thaw some, reduce your cooking time accordingly.

you may want to put them into ZIP lock bags, in case heat rises and ice melts, the dinner won't go "mushy"...

Don't know about the regular frozen T.V. dinners per se, but I always like to take along some frozen vegetables (from the grocery frozen food section) to use for side dish meals and also in making beef or chicken stews. There's also a frozen chipped beef and gravy (can't remember the brand name) that is excellent over biscuits or toast. These items will last even a couple days past being thawed out.

When packing for a trip (mine is usually five days, a week) and filling the ice cooler, those store bought frozen items that are sealed go on the bottom and the loose filling ice will be over them.

We often pre cook things like bacon, chille, chicken breast and stuff like that about 3-4 days before we leave to go camping, then we put then in the freezer.  The day we leave the last thing we pack are the coolers,  One cooler is all the frozen items the other cooler gets stuff for the fridge or stuff that isn't frozen.  In the frozen cooler I'll pack one or two (depending on room) large pop bottles that was pre-frozen with water..  Generally the frozen stuff will stay in a semi-frozen state for up to 3-5 days depending on the day and night time temps. and how well we keep that cooler out of the sun and heat..

Never thought about frozen dinners for the camper. Dry Ice will keep them frozen and no worries of the water. Our local grocer sells dry ice now, if not check your local yellow pages for it.
