The Manhattan, created sometime in the late 18th century, goes head to head with a martini in terms of bold flavor and smooth delivery. The traditional Manhattan is two parts blended Whiskey (usually Canadian) to one part sweet Vermouth with a cherry. Bourbon Manhattan's are another popular choice for its sweetness. This adaptation uses Rye Whiskey for a more full bodied flavor with the citrus notes from orange bitters and orange. With all the choices of small batch Rye whiskeys available, each cocktail can have a subtle change of taste.
