Our camping fits in the garage but I'm not sure if we can open it enough to work on it over the winter.  If possible, I'd like to install a car stereo with speakers.  I'm not sure if I can put speakers outside but it would be nice?  I'd just like to listen to a little classic rock while relaxing.  Do others bring radios or have them installed?

We did a stereo in our trailer and added an outdoor marine speaker with an A/B Switch. We made sure the unit had an auxilary  in jack so we could take the Ipod along.

For about $125 and 3 hours work, we have AM/FM/CD/Weather Radio/and Ipod.

My PUP has a stereo, and in 5 years I may have listened to it 4 times....have to get the directions out to program the stations.  My daughter gave me an IPOD last year and I use that for music and don't disturb others.      It's spoiled me - no commercials and only the tunes I like!

In my tent camping gear I have a multi-purpose 'thing' - florescent light, fan, am/fm radio, etc., which is re-chargeable or can be plugged in - might have used it 3 times years back.  It worked pretty well - not stereo though.

When camping we listen to the ipod as well.  I bought a speakers that it docks to.  The sound is excelent.  I plug it in and set it next to the stove outside or it runs off of 4 AA and keeps the Ipod charged.  My wife's new ipod has a radio built into it so now we can listen to the radio if we want.
I looked into mounting a stereo in the pup.  In fact I saw a marine stereo that someone did that has the outdoor speakers and a outdoor remote faceplate for the radio as well.

personally, since i like listening to classic rock, while camping, i use my iPod Touch with wireless headphones.
i see no reason to subject those camping with me or next to me, to my music. i don't see the need for outside speakers on a camper, when the technology allows for excellent private listening.
the majority of campers enjoy camping to be in nature and to escape the trappings of our culture, such as tv, stereos and phones.
the minority of us who also like listening to music while we camp, need to utilize other means so we don't impact others.

i see it like smoking. it's something i like but someone next to me may not be. so be courteous to your neighbors.

of course, this is my personal opinion.

I installed a car stereo/cd player in the camper a few years ago.  The front speakers are inside and the rear speakers are outside exterior rock speakers on 20ft cords.  Our daughter stands at the edge of the campsite when we turn it on to make sure the radio can't be heard. The stereo has a remote to change stations or volumn and we are able to sit a speaker next to us by the campfire.

We take a small radio with us that is AM/FM/Weather band and also has a built-in flashlight and alarm-clock. The radio also has built in rechargeable batteries that can be recharged either by being plugged-in (AC or DC) or using the built-in crank or can be run on alkalines. We usually only use it for weather info and football games in season. We do use the alarm-clock if we have plans to meet others for a hike etc.. Normally we like to listen to the natural sounds around us, but we also bring our MP3 players so that we don't disturb others if we want to listen to music while hiking or if other campers are being too loud at night.

My popups have not had built in radios.  I bring a small radio that every now and then I will turn on once in awhile.  I don't mind if others have a radio, I just don't want to listen to the guys music from the other side of the loop.

I was at grandma's house and she had a Bose wave AM/FM clock radio from like 1987.
She never used it, so now it's in the PU. It has an AUX jack for the iPod and a remote.
Hard to beat the sound and the price ;D

We have Sirius satellite hard wired into the new hybrid, it came with the Jensen CD/AM/FM/DVD and the cheapest speakers known to man from the factory. Those were the first thing I replaced. Really easy to wire the satellite into it.  Disturbing neighbors is not an issue as we usually have the entire campground to ourselves, we do a lot of during the week camping. On the weekends we make sure its turned down low.........way low. I don't want to start the usual debate over radios/ tv and camping and such. but I get the sirius over dish network. After a storm last year with tornado warnings and surviving some 50 to 60 mph winds, I will not camp without the satellite. Just so I can get the local news and weather along with the weather channel, along with the occasional Nascar race.

We've got a couple options, all very portable.  One is a solar powered combo radio, flashlight.  The others are modern stuff: DW's iPod and HTC Desire and my CrackBerry.  All offer radio options.  Since we have a good data plan, WiFi is not needed.

Sirius satellite plug and play models, the blackberries, or the factory concertone system in our pup.  We haven't been able to play with it too much with a 2 year old, and its right at a toddler's level to damage.

We use my IPOD with a tiny little speaker on the dinette.  You can't hear it at the campfire.  I could bring it out and put it on the picnic table.  You can't hear it inside or at the next campsite.

I'm with Pattie, on no commercials, the songs I want.  We listen more often than Pattie.  We usually listen each night at dinner.  On rare occasions, when other campers are too noisy at night, I will put my headphones on and drown their noise out, until I get to sleep.

I with many here who said that our choice of music should not be our neighbors unhappiness with our choice or their happiness - they should bring their own music!

And if you are going to bring your guitar, please have a good voice, and keep it short enough for your neighbors, and certainly songfest over by quiet time!

The rest of the time we like the peace and quiet we went there for!
