We are still working on getting fresh crawfish local.
This potluck is easier to have 1-2 people bring all the food, propane, pots and burners while everyone else contributes to the cost. Going from last year, the cost is $20 per site, $25 if you have kids over 10 years of age.
We will need at least 6 tables and 10 parts of tongs. Please let us know if you can help?
One or two people are be bringing firewood for Saturday's campfire.
Just a few things:
The beach is pretty strict about 2 things: no throwing or skipping stones in the swimming area and kids 16 and under in boats MUST be wearing a PFD when they launch or they will walk in the water after you. Adults should have them with you but they don't need to be on.
There has been a few reported seeing a bear wandering through the loop at night. The bear isn't aggressive or causing trouble, but make sure trash & food are not left out at night. I don't have a bear icon on our website so here is a turtle instead. :turtle: She is not aggressive either unless you make her mad.
As always, please be careful with kids playing in the road. It is a busy time of the year to camp and the beach and kayaking here is popular.
We need a "Wife is reading this" button on the above post. I ain't telling DW about a bear.
No No dear, that's not a bear thats just a large raccoon.....go outside and scare it away no dear it's not eating our garbage it's eating Joe and Peggy's garbage. next morning Those big scratch marks on the side of the camper?....didn't I tell you I backed into the mailbox the other day, that's what it is. That big paw print.....that was just some of the guys trying to scare the kids. The blood all over the place?.....Cindy's BF went fishing and gutted a fish and cut himself.

Are any Cyclists bringing their bikes? Want to go for a bike ride on Saturday? I'm doing the City to Shore Bike Ride to raise money for MS with Mike, Cindy, my Sister, and niece in October. I need to get some miles in. I'm doing the 25 mile ride. The most I have done is 16 miles and I have never ridden in a group or on a road. Anyone want to ride with a rookie?

If you want a longer ride, with not much traffic (close to none), take a left at the stop sign at top of the campground hill. You can follow the lake around for miles & turn around whenever you wish. If you do the entire lake loop, Shore Road, it will bring you out by the day use area & eventually drop you on a section of Route 390 for a brief time. Due to speeding traffic, that section was not fun.
If you go to the right at the stop sign, you might encounter some traffic coming in from the park office, going to the amphitheater, or from Route 390. If you're okay with a little traffic (no bike lanes), take the right at the stop sign & continue to Park Ave. Make a right on Park & ride to Conservation Island where you can easily hike or grab a geocache, or if you are in the mood for a treat, follow Park Ave up to Rt 390. The store there has tasty ice cream with generous sized cones.
I just found out DW won't be coming up on Friday with me, she will come up on Saturday with my Sister and nephew so I will have Nathan on his 1/2 bike behind me on Saturday morning. I think I'll be staying in the park and not hitting any roads with traffic this time.
