Sailingfree and Mwowenby, where would you like to camp at? I am glad your in, but we need a little more input.
Campdad, sounds like you have the makings for an awesume campground in the works! Get us some power and a bath house and you would probably have some "frequent vistors"! LOL. On a serious note, I would like to know how far are you and Surgipat and the others from Alabama willing to travwl for the rally. We haven't set the location yet. I am hearing veterns state park, amenity, Mckinney has been suggested again. They all sound great! Lets get a majority. We need to hear from the former rally members and future rally members- yz10??? & Carolina Campers! Thanks for input Belchfire! Come on Florida members, need yours as well and anybody else who might want to attend! :baseballhat:

as long as finances and work schedules fall into place, I would like to concur with Belchfire and say Veteran's State Park.

we have never been, and I have heard great reviews from others who have been there.

Our zip code is 36201, which puts me just about center of the map.  We don't mind 2-3 hours tours.  Of course , one like Gilligans wouldn't be too bad in the right place.

Our Zip is 35404. We would like to stay within a 5 hour drive from our place. But we had such a great time at the Fall Rally, we'd certainly be willing to extend that range.

Camp Dad, that is a super offer to rally on your land, but I just don't think I can get by without my microwave and Mr. Coffee.  🙂

I sent a message to Patrick and Jodi fom FL ("Ladyhawke") letting them know we are starting the planing for spring rally and also to let them know we are on this forum now. It would be great to get them involved in the discussion.

Always interested in camping!!! A place with a lake would be wonderful  ;).  Much further north than Atlanta would be hard for us.

My goal in life is to be the person my dog thinks I am.

Veteran's has a nice lake with a beach and kayaks/canoes for rent.  Lots of walking trails with geocaching.  And it's probably 2 hours or more south of Atlanta and right off the interstate.

But I'm not trying to "sell" you guys on Veteran's.  Anything in that general vicinity would be equally amenable to all.  For that matter, I've always wanted to visit Providence Canyon, but there's no lake there.  It's not far from Andersonville Prison, for those history buffs who would like to see that.

edit:  I just noticed that Providence doesn't actually offer RV camping.  That's on a different site.  Oh well; it sounded like a good idea.

5hrs away wouldn't be bad, would drive further, depending if time and finances allowed it.

Great responses everyone. Keep up the great work!  We also need some dates kicked around. Veterans state park appears to be most votes so far. I would say it is roughly 2 1/2 hours below Atlanta for those in north Georgia area.

Veteran's looks like a great place to camp, except for the fees. If I read it correctly, it's 25-30$ a night. Is that correct? Veteran's would be close enough to us, but way over our budget.

Just reading this without all its knowledge of when. My zip is 35773 and wondering how far out this is. Been looking for a trip to rally with fellow campers.

I don't think we will find a full facility camp ground for under $20.00 per night. Last Rally at McKinney rates were $24-28.

I have been looking at travel distances and I came across Wind Creek State Park Alabama. It is on Lake Martin and looks like a nice place. I have never been there, so all I know about it is what I read. Looks like Mtnkube would be the furthest away (about 4.5 hours). Everyone else is 3.5 hours or less. I may have overlooked someone, if so sorry :-[ It's not really close to no one, but equally long distance for everyone. Lol.

I had forgotten the rates, probably because we got a good discount. Do you know if the America The Beautiful Senior Pass applies at Veteran's like it did at McKinney?

I believe the "America the Beautiful pass" only applies to federal facilities. Both Veterans memorial and Wind Creek are state parks. McKinney was federal.
