Additional information about this rally:
Rally History: This is the 8th year we've had a Thanksgiving Rally with one other year at this campground, it's a great place.

Campground/Park: Steeped in natural and historical features, the 696-acre Pine Grove Furnace State Park is in a beautiful mountain setting in southern Cumberland County. Surrounded by Michaux State Forest, Pine Grove Furnace features two lakes, 25-acre Laurel Lake and 1.7-acre Fuller Lake, a historic area and the Appalachian Trail.

Weather: The weather has been pretty consistent over the years with comfortable cooler fall weather during the day and cold nights around a large group campfire.

Gathering Dinner: Our group dinner is Saturday evening and with MarcS and many others help as I cook 3 or more turkeys and everyone brings Thanksgiving sides or desserts for a group sit-down meal together.  Followed by a large campfire, music and memorable stories.

I would recommend Becky. Check out last year's thread and see what sites had hybrids on them. I don't think any site was a bad site here.

2hapoy campers, thanks for the offer of help.  I have been chatting with Eileen T (Mrs. Breadbox) and I think she is going to run this one with me.  I think there are some other rallies that Joe is looking for help with.  Are you going to knobels in Sept or the spring opener in March?

This time I have no info on sites.  Had a cold while camping last yr and just didn't do too much note taking.  Hopefully will be more healthy this yr(fingers crossed)

Hi, Sorta new here!  Been lurking for a long time, but am picking up my new PUP next week!  😀

I see there are some kids going.  Is there a lot for them to do there?  I have an almost 4 and a 6 year old (girls).  I am thinking about trying this one (Ii's within my weekend drive limit, and I'm free!)  It is just the three of us, but I *should* have the PUP figured out by then!  Is it worth a 5 hour drive?

Tiny Blue, Welcome to CanvasCampers!!!! 

There are many kids that will be there of all ages.  I'll be there with my just turned 6yo son.  There are a few other young girls that come as well.  The campground roads are paved so the kids often bring bikes and scooters to ride.  There are a few geocaches that we visited with the kids last year as well.  The kids are really good at playing together or one of the parents will throw a few balls or trucks out out or take them to a playground.  Since my son is getting older I was thinking of bringing a board game that the kids could play.

This is also our Thanksgiving Rally.  There will be lots of food and deep frying turkey.  That in itself is interesting.  We will also have a large fire going from Friday night until Sunday afternoon.

As long as you are young at heart 49 can count as a kid.  I love my elmo T-shirt and I just bought a curious george shirt  😛
