I am in 223, 3 Adults and 3 DD's (8,6,2). My brother is in 221, 2 Adults and 1 DS (6). No pets for either of us.

At this Gettysburg group rally, we will be planning...
- a group haunted tour of Gettysburg Friday evening
- a group tour during the day Saturday (maybe bus tour)
- we will also have a few self-guided auto tour CDs available

Our normal potluck dinner Saturday at 6pm

And the return of beer fest that will be later Saturday evening around 8:00pm

More details coming soon.

Sounds great to me! We're really looking forward to this rally, as I've never been to Gettysburg before. Since our boys camped there regularly with their scout troop, (leader was a fantastic history teacher), we never chose this as one of our family trips. Now, I'll get a chance to see the sights.

As for the beer fest.... well, that will certainly be a hit with us  🙂

Dawn and I can't make this rally. We'll be at Lake Raystown for a mountain bike festival that weekend.

However, after our recent visit, I would definitely recommend doing the battlefield tour on a bike. You can start the tour at the visitor center and the ride is nice and rolling (except Little and Big Roundtops -- you can walk those, though). Whle on the bike, you can stop anywhere, read the monuments and you get a very interesting perspective of the battlefield. Dawn and I just did that this past Saturday afternoon at the Thanksgiving rally.

The place where the Pennsylvania Monument is located, near Pickett's Charge, was very emotional. You can easily picture the Southern Soldiers running across that large field getting hammered by Union artillery and rifle fire. Seeing both Little Roundtop and Big Roundtop was emotional as well. So many soldiers died in both places.

Vagov - yes, we're going to Seven Points. We've been there well over 6 times in the last few years. It is a really nice campground, with large electric sites.

For those of you interested in this rally, I'd also recommend watching the movie "Gettysburg" before going. Joe and I watched it last night after just doing the bike tour of the battlefield and it was really interesting after just being there. I'd wished we'd watched it before going.

We will be dropping DS2 and a friend in Gettysburg on Sun to meet up with a couple of other guys for their ride back to school in Pittsburgh. Maybe that's a sign that I should book my site for the rally!
